This award is being established in 2016 by the Executive Committee of the Florida Association for Pupil Transportation to honor a transportation department, individual or group of individuals working within transportation in the State of Florida which exemplifies service to their community that occurred in a capacity outside of their usual assignment.
Scope: The award will be made annually to a nominee in recognition of outstanding contributions to their community in a capacity other than their usual assignment.
Nominations are accepted to recognize achievement either in a singular outstanding event or the continuous outstanding and dedicated service provided over a period of time.
Eligibility: All active non-management employees employed by any school district or charter school in Florida may be nominated. Nominations may recognize teams or individuals who have demonstrated any of the following:
- Long-serving high achievement for a local community organization or individual
- A record of significant sustained community service such as volunteering with charitable, non-profit organizations or within the local school district community
- A team or individual who has served as an inspiration to initiate a community project outside their usual assignment
- Providing assistance to a local community or school project that had a positive impact on individuals or students in general
Award: An award of $1000 will be made to the recipient that has been selected by the selection committee appointed by the President of the FAPT from the Executive Committee. The recipient name(s) will be placed on the web site and be recognized at the Annual FAPT Summer Conference. The school district or charter school will receive a plaque in recognition of the award that will be inscribed with each year’s annual award winner.
Nominations: A Nomination form (below) must be submitted electronically to the FAPT Executive Director (ExecDir@FAPTFlorida.org) for distribution to the award selection committee. The deadline will be May 1 of each year beginning in 2016. The form will include a nominating statement of no more than one page explaining how the team or individual satisfies the award criteria and providing concrete specific examples. Relevant supporting documentation or photos may be attached if desired.
