Is your Ford diesel's fuel gauge acting crazy, stuck on empty, or not reading at all? The sending unit inside the fuel tank is probably the problem. This is a complete assembly that includes the pump (if equipped), the float arm, and the level sensor. It's specifically for the REAR fuel tank on 2000-2003 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks with the legendary 7.3L Power Stroke diesel engine and the 40-gallon rear tank. It does NOT fit the midship or front tank. The part interchanges with numbers PS-123 and FG296A. Replacing it requires dropping the fuel tank, which is a big, messy job but doable for a determined DIYer with the right tools. Make sure your truck is empty or near empty before you start. This is a common failure point on these older trucks, and a new unit will get your fuel gauge working accurately again and might even fix a no-start issue if the in-tank pump is part of the assembly.
