Need a ceramic material you can actually machine yourself? This MAC3-16048 disc is perfect. It's 3 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick, and you can work it with standard metalworking tools to create prototypes or final parts. It holds crazy-tight tolerances—think +/- 0.0001 inches—and you can get a super smooth finish down to 1-2 Ra. This stuff is a champ with heat, staying stable at 800°C and handling peaks up to 1000°C. It's also a great electrical insulator, even at high voltages and across a wide range of frequencies. Plus, its thermal expansion matches most metals and sealing glasses, so it plays nice in assemblies. It's got zero porosity (no outgassing) and requires no post-firing after you machine it. Tolerances are +0.125/-0.000 for the diameter and +0.060/-0.000 for the thickness. Whether you're in R&D, electronics, or need a custom high-temp component, this machinable ceramic is a super versatile material to have in the shop.
